Johnny Depp Asked to Resign From His Role as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts Franchise

Johnny Depp, famous for his roles in Pirates of the Caribbean films, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Alice in Wonderland, resigned from his role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

The actor made an announcement on his Instagram account stating Warner Bros. had asked him to resign from his role as Gellert Grindelwald.

Depp agreed to what the Warner Bros. has requested of him and that he respected their decision.

This event was after Depp lost a court case concerning the accusations that he was violent towards Amber Heard, his wife.

Warner Bros. was grateful for Depp’s efforts and work towards the franchise. They also said that they will recast the role of Gellert Grindelwald for the upcoming Fantastic Beast 3.

The franchise was said to be coming out in November 2021 but due to circumstances and the current pandemic situation, it was moved to summer 2022. However, its production is currently in progress.
